The Rivesville Lions Club is
         young in comparison to the age of
         the town. It was founded in 1941.
         Charter Night celebration was Nov.
         9, 1942. The organization has stood
         for service to the community for
         more than fifty years, and as such
         has sponsored and suggested the
         following projects:

         1.  Sight conservation. eye-care,
             and eye-glasses for the needy;
        
         2.  The Paw Paw District Fair,
             which it originated;

         3.  Scholarships (Fairmont State
             College) for Rivesville High School
             students;
        
         4. Christmas parties and treats for children;

         5. Christmas fruit baskets for the needy;

         6. Halloween parties with costumes and
             prizes;

         7. Easter egg hunts for elementary  schools 
            of  the community; 

         8.  Boy  Scouts, sponsored troops;

         9. Erected Honor Roll for soldiers and World
            War Two veterans; 1

        10. Minstrels, plays and variety shows;

        11. "I Am An American Day"  celebrations; 1

        12. World War Two bond sales; 

        13. Dinners for National Honor Society
              students;

        14. Gift of U. S. savings bond to outstanding
                Rivesville High School student; 

        15. Shoes for needy children;

        16. Aided in the creation of the Rivesville
              Garden Club;

        17. Sponsored Rivesville High School boys
               to Boys' State;

        19. Annual visits to each member's church;

        20. Established and maintains Roadside Park; 

        21. Sponsored community dances and
               dinners.
